Causes, Complications, Remedies & Treatments

Fibroids & Fertility

Uterine fibroids are benign tumors of the smooth uterine muscle & fertility hormones are linked to their growth, although the exact cause is unknown..

Symptoms: Heavy bleeding, blood clots; Cramps and pain; longer or irregular bleeding.
Diagnosis: Pelvic exam, ultrasound, x-ray, hysterosalpingogram
Treatment: Pain medication NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as naproxen or ibuprofen to relieve cramping. Oral contraceptives (birth control) as they tend to lighten periods by controlling your fertility hormones (progesterone and estrogen). Surgery or embolization.
Complications: Getting pregnant, anemia
 Regular exercise and healthy weight

Fibroids or Endometriosis

Both have similar symptoms so, when should you see your doctor?
If you have heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, frequent urination, painful intercourse, a change in the length of your cycle. Persistent pain or heaviness below the waist. Make an appointment with your gynecologist and get some relief!

“If you are distressed by anything external, the pain is not due to the thing itself, but to your estimate of it; and this you have the power to revoke at any moment.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
