I wanted to share a success story from a good friend of mine who is a vegetarian.
After ttc for a year, she decided to eat meat again (chicken and seafood) and
tuh duh, the month she started on a higher protein, meat diet, they conceived.
She actually heard this from another ex-vegetarian who also conceived easily
after adding protein/meat back into her diet. Just a suggestion to vegetarians
to possibly increase their protein intake. Now, for myself, give me a
juicy hamburger any day (and still ttc after 6 months!)

    thank you so much.

Well, I just found out on 2/19/02 that I'm pg and I wanted to share what dh and I did differently to make it happen! We were technically TTC since 12/01, but we didn't start bringing out the "big guns" until January, and had been without any form of bc since we got married on 6/30/01. It became obvious it wasn't going to happen for us by chance, so I thought I'd better start researching a little bit! Almost all of the tips I found were from women and/or articles on this site, and from the book TCOYF, so I feel I owe all of it to those things!

    1) Took 2 tsps. plain Robitussin 3 x's/day from cd7 until O with full glass of H2O each dose.
    2) Took one 81 mg baby aspirin a day starting from cd1 until O.
    3) Missionary position (sorry, but thought I'd go all out and reveal everything! ;) )
    4) Stayed lying down after bd'ing with bottom propped up slightly on a small pillow for 20 minutes to, in one case on O day, overnight-never got up until the next morning.
    5) Bd'd every other day starting on first day of EWCM; bd'd on O day and also morning of temp rise as advised to do in TCOYF "just incase".
    6) Went to hotel night of O to get out of the drudge of bd'ing on command....it was marvelous and I'm sure it was the night that we conceived...the change of pace was so needed in our case. Bd'ing was beginning to be a chore we secretly dreaded!
    7) Lots and lots of praying together before bedtime; and we asked our families to pray for us too. This one was important to us, but it may not be your thing!

I know these "tricks" are probably not news to many of you, but I thought I'd post it anyway incase it might help someone out there! (If all of the stuff we tried didn't work, I was going to add the eggwhites and try some of the herbs too).

I discovered the ttc site in April of 2001,
when I went off birth control pills (after 13 years!).
I had told myself I would NOT temp or chart -
that I didn't want to become THAT obsessive.
(Obsessive - yeah, right! Try "knowledged"!).
After a LONG cycle - 35 days, I decided to start charting
because I had no idea when I would ovulate.
The second cycle off bcp, I started charting.
I also got pregnant that month.
I was nauseous from the get go, and had horrible heartburn, too.
Unfortunately, I miscarried a few weeks later.
But I learned a few valuable things -
the ladies on the boards are VERY supportive,
and charting IS the way to go!

I perfected my charting and temping over the next couple of months,
since my cycles are long and I had to "wait out" a cycle after the m/c anyway.
Through the charting I discovered that I had a shorter luteal phase -
9 to 10 days max. Possibly the reason for my m/c?
Who knows...but I definitely felt in control of my own body by charting.
I approached my doctor and asked if I could be put on progesterone -
"just in case". She looked at my charts and agreed that a low-dose
certainly wouldn't hurt, and might just help in case I do get pregnant.
That cycle, my luteal phase jumped to 13 days! yay!

In October of 2001, I o'ed earlier than I ever had before - on cycle day 18.
    I was thrilled!
I was also happy that I had started taking OPK's on cycle
day 13, otherwise I might have missed it. The o date came and went,
and I was stuck in the dreaded two week wait. On 3 and 4 dpo I was a little
queasy, but nothing else happened. On 7 dpo I felt crampy all night, and
was worried that the progesterone wasn't doing its trick this month.
The cramping passed, and I waited it out.
My temps were nothing exciting - low 98's as they always are during the 2WW.
Early in the morning on 11 dpo, I had a VERY vivid dream.
I dreamed I had gotten up and taken a pregnancy test and it was positive.
The dream was so real, in fact, that when my alarm went off at 5 a.m. on 11 dpo,
I looked on my nightstand for that positive test.
    It wasn't there!
I went to the bathroom, took a First Response Early test,
    and sure enough...I was pregnant!
No temp dip, no implantation spotting, no sore bb's, no strange symptoms.
Just a regular two week wait, and one strange and vivid dream!
I'm now 23 weeks along, and everything's progressing wonderfully.
I'm due in July, a year after the miscarriage. :o)

Wanted to share my experience because I was sure getting discouraged.

My husband is 41 and I am 40. I have three children from previous marriages and he has three children from his previous marriage. We have been married two years this summer. We decided we wanted to try to have a child. It has been a roller coaster ride because I was told about three months after we had been trying that I had already gone through menopause. It was an incorrect reading because my cycles were not regular and I had a blood test showing my fsh level to be 39. So we stopped trying of course, but I started having very regular cycles, so I had my regular general practitioner check it again, and it was 10. He said I was not going through menopause, so I went back to my gynecologist and told them the results. She put me on clomid, increasing the dosage the first three cycles by one pill. Still no pregnancy. My husbands sperm count came back good, and my progesterone levels looked great. But after an additional 5 cycles, had another blood test and my inhibin B count was a 15, and my ob-gyn sa id it should be 45-200. So they referred us to a fertility specialist close by.

I could not get into the fertility specialist for a couple of months, but I had read a little bit about trying egg whites, so I thought - why not, it was worth a try. I still had a couple months to try before going to the specialist. So I did the egg whites prior to ovulation and again at the end, and low and behold - I'm pregnant. The egg whites were the only thing we did different. Anyway, I'm only about 6 weeks along, but everything is going good so far.

So don't give up, even if it's a long haul. I felt pretty silly trying the egg whites, but I figured it couldn't hurt at this point. I didn't get any infection or anything. Worked for us!!!

Thanks for sharing the idea! We might not be here without it!
