Well after 6 months of trying,
Clomid worked on the first try.

The funny thing is,
I thought it had not worked at all.
I generally ovulated very late in my cycle
(20+ days) and was told that the Clomid
would speed things up a bit.

Well, My temps went up for 4 or 5 days
then back down. By day 21 I called my doc.
She was on vacation of course
but the nurse said to tell the doc to increase
my dosage to 100mg next time and that
if AF didn't come in a few days,
to come in and they would make her come.

Luckily I chart my bbt and I could see
that I O'd on day 24.
I didn't want them to bring on AF
because I was concerned with a potentially short lf.
At 9 dpo I got horrible cramps that lasted for 6 days.
I thought it was just bad pms - it was implantation.
I didn't get any spotting but the pain was terrible.
I had no idea implantation would be like that
but my doctor said it was common.

I was totally stunned when I took a test at 14 dpo
and it was positive.
(I took 3 more tests after that and still didn't
believe it until the doctor confirmed it.)
I was already focused on the next month of trying.

I took Robitussin.
We just happened to get lucky and dtd the night
before I O'd after a couple of nights off.
BTW, my temps never went triphasic
which is another reason why I thought I was not pregnant.
It was kinda fun to be surprised even though
we were trying so hard.

I can't believe it actually happened!

DH and I have been TTC for 2 yrs.
After TTC for a year my Dr. said I
wasn't O'ing and put me on provera every 6 wks
if AF didn't visit. I took the medication
7 times that year.

In Aug99 I changed Dr's and
after telling him my story he suggested
Clomid. I took Provera for 10 days
to bring AF along. Days 3-7 I took the Clomid.
Day's 9-16 DH and I DTD every day
(We thought we'd start early :)
I checked CM and CP everyday,
and I could feel the change in my cervix
but felt no other symptoms of Ov.
The week following my expected Ov date
my breasts got really tender.

I took a HPT on 9/26,
when I saw the neg line go across I threw it away
and tried not to think about it.
Later that day I started to get a strange
pressure/crampy feeling and 9/27 am I took another HPT.
This one came up positive!
I dug the other on out of the trash and it to
was positive, I threw it away to early (lmao!).
The Dr confirmed that I was PG
that we were 5 wks PG that evening.
Our EDD is June 4th.

I still can't believe I was given this miracle.
Good luck to everyone!
love
Laura

Success Details

Tested positive with the store hpt on 13 dpo (9/6/99). Blood test confirmed on 15 dpo.

Had a Lap 12/98 to take care of severe endometriosis. Started seriously ttc (charting and stuff) 3/99. Cycles were very short with LP being 7 days.

Started taking B-complex, EPO, and vitamin C in addition to prenatal vitamins. B-complex lengthened my LP to about 12 days but cycles were still off. Ob/gyn thought that my hormones were not going in the right sequence and started me on Clomid in August (cd3-7). This was my 6th cycle seriously ttc. She checked with u/s on cd12 and found 2 good sized follicles but it did not look like they were going to be released any time soon. So she gave me an hcg shot. I o'ed cd13. We dtd cd9-14.

Temps are below:

cd13 97.9 (o'ed)
cd14 98.4
cd15 98.3
cd16 98.4
cd17 98.3
cd18 98.6
cd19 98.6
cd20 98.6
cd21 98.6
cd22 98.3 (implant or hcg shot wore off)
cd23 98.5
cd24 98.6
cd25 98.7
cd26 98.8 (+ hpt)
cd27 98.8 (+ hpt)
cd28 98.8 (+ blood test)

I really have had very few symptoms. I started feeling twingy and crampy around 5 dpo and it continued (this is unusual for me) but had no other symptoms. I have severe asthma and a lot of the meds that I had used in the past had really messed up my hormones. The Clomid and hcg shot were the really different things this cycle and I don't think I would have gotten pg without them.

+++++ thoughts,

IT WAS POSITIVE!!!!!! (m&long)

Tuesday, 7 September 1999, at 10:06 a.m.

I tested on Sunday (14 dpo) and Monday (13 dpo) with EPT and both showed a clear line at 3 - 4 minutes. I can't believe I am actually pregnant. I made an appointment for tomorrow for the blood test, but I know that the home tests are really accurate, especially when it's positive.

Brief history: Started TTC in March '99, so this was our 5th month, but only our 2nd cycle. I had a very long (100 days) anovulatory cycle from April to July. At the end of July I took Provera to get a period. After three weeks when I hadn't ovulated I called my doctor. He said he would put me on Clomid on my next visit. Well, we DTD on Saturday (just for fun) and I ovulated on Sunday. I couldn't believe it!

My temp was 96.8 (BRRR). Temps stayed up after ovulation and went triphasic at 7 dpo. Had small spot of pink CM at 12 dpo and tested positive at 14 and 15 dpo.

I wanted to thank you all so much for the support you have given me over these last 5 months. I haven't posted much, but I read your posts every day. You all have been an inspiration. I will keep you updated on what happens next. We are just praying that everything will go well over the next 9 months. +++ thoughts to you all.

Beware! This is going to be long!

DH and I tried for almost two years.
Through charting, I realized I was ovulating
about every 6 or 7 weeks. I felt like this
would not impede our efforts to become pregnant,
since irregular periods run in the family
and there are no infertility problems.
My RE listened briefly to our story
and automatically assumed it was just
an ovulation problem. We tried Clomid
several times and an inject cycle.
The RE then recommended a Lap, which was normal.

Well, several months later we moved and went to a new RE.
This RE really sat down and analyzed everything.
He felt there was a borderline male factor
and recommended Clomid with an IUI.
The first try failed, probably because we did
the IUI too early. I became very depressed and
eventually picked up a book called
"Healing Minds, Healthy Woman". It talked
a lot about ways to cope with infertility.
I started a regular yoga routine. I threw out
my thermometer. I also started taking Evening Primrose
Oil. Well, it (Clomid, IUI, HCG) worked!!
I tested positive with a dark line at 12dpo and had
a beta of 67!!! We will go in for our first u/s soon.
If I had advice for anyone, it would be to get a good RE,
one who really follows and thinks about your case.
Secondly, don't follow TCOYF like it's the Bible--
it's wrong in many aspects and it can make you totally go
nuts. (This is true especially if you are regular-- just
relax and try for a few months before starting all
the temping, etc.) Finally, do something to help
you relax and cope with treatments, like regular
exercise, etc.

Good Luck to all!!!!!
