Fertility Places
Jewish holy sites to visit to pray for children in Israel
Everywhere we went, We recited the morning or afternoon service, recited
psalms (a few each day), wrote out notes asking to be blessed with with
children, and gave money to people asking for chairty. Each time we gave
money, we asked for a blessing in return. We gave a lot of money.
Jerusalem:
- 1. The Western Wall. including the underground portion
- 2. King Davids Tomb.
- 3. Rabbi Nachum Cohen. I have to get his phone number again, but he sees
people every Monday night. Rabbi Cohen does not speak ANY english, only
Hebrew and Yiddish. My DH knows enough hebrew to make arrangements. If you
are not fluent, bring someone along who is. Anyway, the address for the place
was some boarded up building on Old Yafo Road. It turns out, his "space" was
in a courtyard behind the building. When you get the address, look for a gas
station right before that number, to the left of the station, you will see an
entrace to the courtyard, when you walk in, you can just ask anyone where
Rabbi Cohen is. His office was in an old apartment, people just waited in a
room to see him. There was no list, people just sort of figured out who was
next. If you see anyone who looks like an assistant, try to make yourself
known to him. The meeting was very short, we put down some money on his desk,
he asked why we were there, asked for our hebrew names, went quiet for a
few seconds, and then looked straight at me and said "Mazel Tov". That was it.
Hevron:
- Cave of the Machpela (Abraham and Sarah's Tombs):
Rachel's Tomb
(Buses leave from Jerusalem every Monday and Thursday to tour these areas)
Tiberias:
- Tomb of Rabbi Meir Baal Haness
(People pray here for all types of reasons, when your prayers are fulfilled,
you must return to the tomb and hold a little "party". We saw people putting
food and drinks for others to eat.
Sfat:
- Tomb of the Ari Za'al
Ari Za'al synagogue. There is a two-person chair in the synagogue that couple
can sit on and asked to be blessed with children. A woman named Aviva gives
walking ours of Sfat, she may know of other places to visit to pray.
