I am a first time user of Clomid.
    Today is my last dose.
I was feeling fine the first two days but the last few days
I have been moody, tired, and sad.
I haven't gotten any hot flashes yet,
but from what I have read I am sure I will on this website I am sure I will.
I had surgery to have my tubes opened in Jan,
    but haven't gotten pregnant yet.
My doctor is trying Clomid along with Pregnyl
and artificial insemination this month to see if it helps.
I hope the Clomid works so I won't have to take the invitro route.
    Good luck to us all!!
    Maria

Hi my name is Jasmine .I'm 23 years old
and my husband and I have been
trying to concieve for over a year now .
After a year I finally went to my gyno and asked him what was going on .
He did a couple progesterone test and both times my progesterone levels were like 3.2.
Well anyway's my hormones low..So my Doc prescribed clomid .
This is month 2 and so far my primary physician has had to put me on xanax
because one minute I love my husband and the next minute I'm having an Ally Mcbeal moment.
So a little word to the wise ..If anyone is trying to get pregnant and they are trying Clomid .
Here is what to expect .Moodiness like mood swings headaches, cramping, hot flashes
that last the whole entire cycle, breast tenderness, nausea, frequent urination and did I say mood swings...
If it werent for my loving husband ..I think that he would have either
A : walked out on me or
B:I would be typing this from the basement ..
But you know what ..If it works ...It was worth it all.
      HI ALL,
I've just stopped taking Clomid as I can't stand how I feel.
My first baby was conceived using Clomid. I had suffered 2
    miscarriages prior to this and
my doctor recommended taking Clomid to
increase my cycle as mine was very long and infrequent.
Don't remember any side effects the first month
The second month was fine and I became pregnant.
Baby boy the following February 1999.
I then conceived my daughter 10 months later with
no help from anybody but ourselves.
    I recently had another miscarriage
so my doctor put me back on Clomid
    I am taking it day 1 -5.
    Desperate side effects.
    Very bad form.
    Very moody & emotional.
Feel like crying at almost any hiccup.
    Blinding headache also.
    No luck the first month.
    Started the second month.
    Repeat of headache and moods.
Feeling desperate around day 24 of cycle.
Totally bloated and actually felt pregnant.
    Periods started day 29.
    Very light bleeding, unusual.
I still feel bloated and crampy.
Don't like how am feeling at all
so I won't be continuing with Clomid.
I'll let nature take it's course.
    What will be will be.
    Good luck to you all.
      Hi Momma Kath
I'm a 37 year old mom of 2 boys, looking for the girl.
I took one month of clomid, from an outdated prescription
I had left in the bathroom.
I experienced common side effects: hot flashes & mood swings.
I was certain I had conceived that month,
for I had many symptoms common for me during pregnancy.
But my period did come that month.
    Now, in the subsequent cycle,
I have developed several non-malignant breast cysts.
My gyno prescribed mega-Vitamin E doses,
plus cutting out caffeine, salt and chocolate,
and the cysts seem to be subsiding without need for aspiration.
She said these cysts are caused by "hormonal changes".
"Could this have been induced by the Clomid?" I asked.
She said no. I wonder if she's right,
    Clomid being a hormone, afterall.
With cancer rampant in my family,
any cyst development is not good news.
I hesitate to take it again.
But maybe I shouldn't have taken the outdated hormone, anyway.
So, I share this, for what it's worth.
    Hope it's useful.
    Pamela

    Hi Pamela
I felt the need to respond to your email.
Clomid is not a hormone, instead it is a chemical which tricks the body
into overproducing FSH (follicle stimulating hormone).
    Clomid contains estrogen blockers.
When taking clomid your body does not realize
how much estrogen it has produced
and works harder to produce more.

  • Follice Phase - Estrogen is the dominant hormone
    (growing stage)
  • Ovulation - Luteinizing Hormone causes the egg to be ovulated
    (swelling & expulsion of eggs)
  • Luteal Phase - Progesterone
(softening of tissue and ligament to allow for implantation expansion of possible pregnancy)

Fibroids & Cysts are a very common occurrence in all of us.
Fibroids and Cysts grow during the follicle phase (estrogen).
What dissolves fibroids/cysts naturally is high progesterone levels (during the luteal phase).
There is a way to raise progesterone levels naturally, Vitex!

You are absolutely right that clomid could have triggered the cysts
as the cysts grow in the follicle phase (before ovulation) under the influence of estrogen.
You've read lately about Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) causing cancer.
The reason for that is HRT contains plant estrogen.
Cancer grows faster when the estrogen level is high.
Love and positive, eggly thoughts +++

Hello...my name is Jennifer and I am 23 years old.
My husband and I have been ttc for over a year now.
My doctor prescribed clomid 50mg for me and provera,
(since my cycles are very irregular).
So far some of the side effects have been:
mild headaches, dizziness, hot flashes, and irritability.
I don't think I ovulated this first round,
so I will have to try again on the next cycle.
I just hope it works for us!
We want to start a family so bad!
    Your website is very comforting..
    thank you!
    Wish us luck!
    ~JENN~

My husband and I have been TTC for almost 2 years.
With my first pregnancy I was amazingly able to
conceive with 6 weeks with no medication.
So when we started trying for baby #2
we found out that things weren't going to be
    as easy as before.
    I started like everyone else,
    50mg,
    then 100mg,
    and then 150 mg,
    but nothing was working.
And along the way I had the same side effects...
    mood swings, hot flashes, etc.
We finally went to a fertility specialist
and he put me on the 200mg dose.
    Then things got really weird!
On the third day of taking Clomid I developed Diplopia.
Its when you start seeing 3's and 4's of everything.
So when I would move my hand I would see
3 or 4 more of my hands moving along with it.
Obviously we have stopped taking Clomid
and we are moving on to Gonal-F.
    Wish me luck!

My hubby & i have been TTC for abt 09mths but no luck still.
My U/S report shows that i am fine,
but b'cos i have irregular menses on & off,
Doc precribed Clomid for me to try this cycle.
I have taken the pills for 5 mornings from
5th-9th days of my cycle, 50mg/per day.
This is my 1st clomid experience &
didn't have much side effects with it.
I will be turning 26 in abt 2 weeks time,
it will really be the BEST Birthday Gift for me
if i can conceive this time round
.We are trying & praying hard for this day to come real soon.
.For those who are trying or have succeeded,
all the best to you & pls pray for us.
Thank You & God Bless Everyone...!

This was my first month on Clomid.
My ob/gyn started me out at 50mg as usual.
I experienced some dizziness and many,
    many hot flashes.
People at work would laugh because in mid sentence
I would suddenly start looking around frantically for
    something to fan myself with
    (manilla folders work great)
and start waving my hands in efforts to cool down!
It seemed that when I was in the middle of a hot flash -
that's when the moodiness would set in -
probably just because I was uncomfortable.
I'm anxious/concerned to see what 100mg will bring me -
however, who knows, perhaps this will work the first time around -
I won't know for another week.
    Wish me luck!
    Carrie

I have been on Clomid for 5 months and still no luck.
My Dr started me on 50mg after I was going for months without a period.
My Dr took some blood and established that my Progesterone levels
were only 2.5 (30 is the average!).
For the 1st 3 months regular as clockwork I was taking my Clomid
for the first 5 days of my cycle and having blood taken on day 21.
I was lucky enough not to have many side effects,
only mood swings but I think most of that was down to depression,
I am 23, not over the hill for a baby so why the problems??
After 3 months on the Clomid my Progesterone levels
had only increased to 3.6 so the Dr increased the dosage to 100mg.
I am have now been on the higher level of Clomid for 2 months
and my last blood results showed another poor progesterone level,
this time 6.3 (the highest yet).
My Dr is concerned so I am being referred to a
Gynecologist who specialises in infertility at the hospital.
Fingers crossed it will result in a baby
which my husband & I want very, very much.
    Kirsty xx

    I have 2 children one 5 and one 3.
My 3 year old is a product of 5omg clomid.
So when we desided to go for #3 we tried without anything with no luck.
I have been taking clomid for 5 cycles now with no luck YET! I am up to 150mg...
but I am keeping my chin up. The best part about "trying" is TRYING!
My side effects are minimal. I have gained weight with them,
And on the 1st dose I was dizzy.
    My period is terribly heavy..
I use a super plus tampon and a maxi pad because the flow is like water running.
But from what I understand that is normal.
Good luck to all using Clomid!
    Heather

I am 30 years old and have been married for 6 and 1/2 yrs.
My husband and I conceived our daughter
on our 3rd month of trying to conceive naturally.
    She was born 5-14-00.
I went back on birth control pills a month after she was born.
I stopped them in April 2002.
We started TTC again in May 2002,
and I did get pregnant in January 2003.
    Unfortunately, I miscarried in February.
My dr. put me on Clomid and progesterone this cycle.
    I took the Clomid on cds 5 - 9,
and am currently on cd 11.
I am now waiting to see if I ovulate normally,
and then I'll start the progesterone.
I haven't had too many side effects from the Clomid.
    Just fatigue,
    feelings of profound sadness,
    and occasional slight headaches.
I'm so glad I found this website.
A lot of my friends just don't understand what I'm going through,
so I can't talk to them.
    Good luck to you all.
In September, I did a round of Clomid at 50mg,
    but did not O.
    AF came on CD 24.
In October, we upped it to 100mg.
This time I O-ed, but AF came on CD 29.
In November we did 100mg again, O-ed again.
I tried to not get excited when AF didn't come by CD 30,
but got a HPT anyways - BFN.
I've heard of false negatives before, though,
    so I was still upbeat.
    By CD 40 (mid December)
my OBGYN wanted to do a blood pregnancy test
to determine if I needed to start Provera,
or if I was actually PG.
    I went to his office for the blood draw that afternoon;
The results wouldn't be back until the next day.
That evening I had some weird abdominal pains.
I took some gas medicine, pain medicine,
and went to bed with the heating pad.
    Several hours later,
when I couldn't sleep through the pain any more,
I woke up DH for a trip to the emergency room.
I knew that it was either an ectopicpregnancy or appendicitis.
Turns out I had 2 giant cysts on my right ovary,
and AF was just peeking her head around the corner.
The ER sent me home with narcotics and instructions to call my doctor.
My OBGYN said that everything would probably clear up on it's own
after a month of no Clomid.
Mid January I had a follow up sonogram to find
only minimal reduction in my cysts.
I asked if I should take birth control pills to help clear it up,
but he felt that was not necessary.
Mid February I had another sono to again find only minimal reduction.
When I finally was able to reach my Dr. 2 weeks later (early March),
he went ahead and prescribed 8 weeks of low-level birth control pills.
That did the trick for the cysts, my 8 weeks were up a couple of days ago
(end of April), and I'm going to begin another
round of 100mg in a couple of days.
Oh yeah, I changed doctors also.
    Sorry it's so long,
but I haven't seen anyone else with this type of experience yet.
I'm sure that I'm not the first, and I'd like my "twin"
to know that she's not alone!
Hello I have completed two months on 50MG of clomid.
I was reading about all of the ladies that have described terrible side effected.
I guess I should count myself lucky. I did have hot flashes.
I teased my mother-in-law that God help me when I went through menopause.
Also I had a terrible attitude.
I hoped that I would not have to get a divorce before I could get PG.
(not quite that bad). My cycle last month was 28 days.
That seemed to be perfect, ovulated 3-5 day
after the last pill and starting my next cycle in three weeks of last pill.
At least that is how it was last month. Today is my 30 days for me.
I took a PG test this morning.
There may have been a faint line but the test have fooled me before.
I want to be PG so bad but I as also so afraid.
I got PG last April and miscarried on July 4th.
I don't want to go there again.
I hope everyone will keep all of us mot! her-want-a-bes in your prayers.
    The waiting is very hard.
I just never figured that it could be so hard.
