I have been married for four years and on month eleven into our marriage I tried clomid 50gm and sure enough got pregnant with my beautiful daughter who will be three in January 2003. We have been trying for our second child for over a year now and have started clomid a few months after finding out that one of my tubes is blocked (after having my daughter), of course reducing my chances of becoming pregnant by 50%. The side effects have really been awful but I don't have much choice at this point. I have experienced everything from extreme moodiness and total confusion and depression (this bad: sometimes I dial a number and in the middle of dailing I can't remember who and why I was calling) to lost of sexual interest (but the latter of course plays an important role in my becoming pregnant). I am really hoping and praying that I conceive soon so I can get on with my life with my wonderful and very understanding husband and child. Hi, I'm 33 years old and have been trying to conceive for 2 1/2 years. Not religiously though. I have a 4 year old daughter who was conceived naturally in, literally, one try. I figured it will be the same for the second child, but to no avail, no baby yet. My Dr. prescribed 50mg of Clomid last month (Jan. 2003), but I didn't start taking it until February. I was told to do it on day 5-10. I was very worried about side effects because of everything I've read. None whatsoever!! But then, a couple of days after the last pill, I started experiencing headaches. I suffer from migraine headaches anyway, and this one was different. It was more pressure in the base and back of my head and it didn't last all day. It came and went throughout the day. No moodswings, thank God, but a lot of hot flashes. Gosh, a lot of hot flashes. I also have a slight change in my eyesight. I'm due to go to an eye doctor but want to wait until I'm done with this medication so I can get a more accurate eye prescription. Someone mentioned the metallic taste in the mouth. I get that too. Not so bad though. One thing I noticed about my ovulation was that it came late while on Clomid. I am able to tell when I ovulate, because I experience mittelschmerz (when an egg is being release from your ovaries). I normally have this for one day on day 12-14. I even purchased the ovulator kit just to make sure, and noticed that I wasn't ovulating on any of those days. Very odd, since I'm very regular with these things. I noticed last night that I had very strong mittelschmerz, which happens to be day 16, and true enough, the ovulator kit said I was ovulating. Very odd indeed. Let's keep our fingers crossed for some good news. Good luck to everyone and hope that our wishes will be fulfilled very very soon.

My name is Mary Beth, my husband and I have been married for 11 years. We started trying to get pregnant about 6 years ago. We just thought if it happens it happens no medication. My OBGYN suggested the Clomid. I'm 29 yrs old. I have been on Clomid for 4 months now. Started taking the Clomid Jan 2003. I started taking 50 mg Clomid in Jan. 100 mg Feb. 100 mg March now my Doctor has increased it to 150 mg for April. The first three months was not bad. Before now I would have said I had no side effects but after reading others experiences I did have some of these mild side effects. I have been living off Aspirin. Do not realize this was from the Clomid. Score breast defiantly. OH MY, BIG AWAKING!!! This month (4th month 150 mg) moody is not the word for me. My poor husband... he has been so good to me. God knows I love him and he has to love me back. I can't explain what it is but I will just bust out in tears for no reason. I'll stop crying and everything is fine. Five minutes later I will be crying all over again rumbling off about things that I would normally not think twice about. Emotional, sensitive, touchy, the list goes on. Hot flash all the time. This medication gave a whole new meaning on the 4th month. It will be worth it if this works. However this is the last dose. My Doctor is sending me to a fertility specialist if this dose does not work. All of you who pray Please pray for all these woman and there husbands and say one for me and my husband please. God Bless you all, Mary Beth I too have experienced some nasty side effects from 50g dosage of Clomid taken for 3 months. I have experienced bad cyclical headaches and abdominal pain and have now found out I have enlarged ovaries, a relatively common side effect. Tests have shown that the treatment is working in that I am now ovulating but at what cost I wonder. Lesley I have been on clomid 50mgs for the last four months. I was going to this one doctor and he had me onthe clomid days 3-7. I currently switch doctors and my current OBGYN has me taking the clomid 50mg on days 5-7. He told if I don't get pregnant this month, he is going to up my dose to two 50mg tablets a day. I haven't had any hot flashes yet, but I sure have had the mood swings My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 2 years with no luck. I have taken clomid for two months, but this cycle I decided not to take it. My hot flashes are horrible. I sleep with the fan right next to the bed, and I toss and turn all night. I even have to get up in the wee hours of the morning to get something cold to drink. I noticed that my cycle was about 10 days late this time. I thought for sure I was pg but my cycle started and it was the worse cycle I have had in a long time. Very heavy bleeding, and very bad headaches. I hope some of you are having a better time on this drug than I am. kmikeyswife
I have been on Clomid now since November (it is March).
I too have experienced some nasty side effects from 50mg dosage of Clomid taken for 3 months. I have experienced bad cyclical headaches and abdominal pain and have now found out I have enlarged ovaries, a relatively common side effect. Tests have shown that the treatment is working in that I am now ovulating but at what cost I wonder. Lesley I'm 32 years old and my hubby and I have been trying to conceive for seven months. I went in for an exam with a very good OB/GYN who suspected I was cystic. He did an ultrasound and verified that my ovaries were covered in cysts. I then had blood tests which confirmed I have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). So we discussed my options, the first one being a Clomid regimen. So I was waiting for my period to arrive, but I was late. Turns out I was pregnant. But the tests were faint, so after a week I went in for a blood test. That Friday my doctor called and said it was positive, and then Saturday I woke up bleeding; I had miscarried. So we counted that Saturday as day 1, and I started the Clomid on day 5. I had a slight headache the second day, and hot flashes started on the third. At first it was only in the evening maybe three or four times, but by day 4 I was getting severe hot flashes about every 20 minutes throughout the day and night. By severe I mean I would break out into a visible sweat and have to peel off clothing or fan myself. I felt like I was in a sauna. On day 4 I got an excruciating headache in the evening, and severe nausea. I had dry heaves and then ended up throwing up twice. Pain relievers did nothing to alleviate the headache. I had to lie completely motionless or I would feel nauseated. I was in the bathroom until about 3 in the morning and my husband was fanning me, as I was dripping with sweat. I must have drank about three gallons of water over the weekend to make up for all the sweating. I was a little afraid on day 5 to take another tablet, but I took it and had no problems that day, except for the hot flashes. I have not been moody at all - actually I feel my mood has improved. Also my skin has never been so flawless. I usually have to wear concealer to cover blemishes, but I have NO blemishes on my skin at all since I've been taking Clomid. Today is day 10, so I am done for this month. I have to call my doctor and find out when I should come in for more blood tests Good luck everyone! I am on Clomid trying to have my 3rd child. I have 2 girls. In August 1999 I was first put on 50mg of Clomid because I wasn't ovulating. Luckily, by September - we conceived during the second round of Clomid. My doctor left me at 50mg because I did ovulate on Clomid. We had our first daughter in June 2000. I was on the birth control pill for only 3 months and then I conceived again in January 2001 with daughter #2 born in Oct. 01 (we were totally thrilled we conceived on our own). I was on birth control again from Nov. 2001 through July 2001. Since August we have been trying and we are not pregnant. My last LMP was March 24th. I took Clomid day 5-9. On day 13-15 I have been experiences lots of cramping. It is really crummy. I don't remember having cramps this bad last time during ovulation - if any. I am due to start again on 4/20/03. My husband's 30th birthday is today and I would love to have some news for him soon! -- Angie THIS IS MY FIRST MONTH TAKING CLOMID. I JUST FINISHED TAKING MY LAST PILL TONIGHT. SO FAR THE ONLY SIDE EFFECT THAT I CAN SEE IS MOOD SWINGS. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND IS GREAT AND HE UNDERSTANDS. WE ARE PRAYING THAT CLOMID WILL WORK FOR US. This is my sixth month on clomid, 100mg. This time I starting to have almost continuous panic attacks, with rapid heart rate (130 bpm vs my usual 70bpm), night sweats, inability to sleep, heart pains, tremors, and general feeling of out of control both physically and emotionally. In the prior months I had experienced severe headaches that were alleviated by taking a mild diuretic. But I had a similar heart reaction in November, my second month on Clomid. It wasn't until now that I realize it was the Clomid. My RE says I'm experiencing severe progesterone withdrawal and to stay home, take some Benadryl and wait to return to normal in 24-48 hours. This is NO fun. Keep sending them in....here is another page More Clomid Comments
