5/29/10 Hello, I am on my second month with clomid, TTC for 17 months now, age 22, and its been a wild ride for me. My first month was with 50mg and I felt virtually nothing, but I also didn't ovulate at all. Now with my second month, my doctor upped my dose to 100 mg and I am having a lot of side effects, the worse one is hot flashes. I have also had some mild cramping and a tiny bit of spotting. I guess this means its working, right? Good luck to all who are ttc! Sadie Hi Sadie, the cramping and spotting may suggest pre-ovulation. I trust your doctor is checking to see your ovaries have not been over-stimulated, right? Love Momma Kath+++ My name is Melissa and I am the prehistoric age of 41. My hubby and I became prego at 39 (after years of trying in a previous marriage) with no fertility drugs just plain old got lucky. Now, my beautiful little girl is two and we have been trying for a year and obviously time is of the essence. My dr ordered blood work for me and told me my prog level was low 2.1 and that if I really want another baby to start clomid asap. I started 50 mg of clomid for days 3-7 and immediately got hot flashes. I finished the last pill two days ago and have a constant headache-just won't stop. It will be well worth it if I get another little miracle out of this. Is there anyone else out there who is crazy enough to try this at 41 with a level of 2.1? I would love to hear any success stories or experiences from other seasoned gals. lol 2/27/10 I have been trying to get PG for 12 month's now and there has been no luck. I am really nervous, but hopefully clomid work's. I cannot wait to get my period so i can get on with it. Anyway i will be starting my first dose of 50mg of clomid in march 2010. Good luck to all your ladies whom are taking clomid for the first time:-} Samashni 2/26/10 36 yo, TTC #1 for 14 months now. Starting 2nd round of clomid today. During my 1st week, I had hot flashes and severe mood swings, then had a hard time telling when I O'd be cause cervical fluid was weird, cervix never fully opened and never had a definite pos on ov strip, though my LH surge is always brief. Only could tell afterwards when I had temp increase! After O I felt normal till 12 DPO. Then had mild cramps, nausea and dizziness. Now (leading up to and during my period I have had bad headaches). My period started in the evening two days ago and appears to have ended this morning. My normal period is 4 full days. This time it was 2.5! Anyway, hoping this works 2nd time around, this is exhausting! 2/27/01 Just finished my first cycle of chlomid. Had some bloating, nothing major, and it was awesome for my sex drive (strange, but true!). Started spotting 10 days before my period was due, a week before it was due, it started, and I am bleeding like crazy. Never had one this heavy before; I assume it's due to the chlomid. Skipping a month, then will try a slightly higher strength the month after. Larc 2/27/10 I have been trying to get PG for 12 month's now and there has been no luck. My dh and I have been trying for 16 months with no luck. I am 33 going on 34 and he’s about to be 40. We went to the fertility clinic for now, the last six moths. NO results, I tested fine and so did his sperm. I did a costly HSG, no blockage, and Clomid too. Well I saw the egg white section and thought what the Hey! Well my fertile days were March 17, 18, 19, 20. We used egg whites on CD #15 and #16 the day that I got a +tive OPK. Well today is April 1st and I feel AF is on the way and I did HPT on March 30,31, and today April 1st they were all –tive. I followed the instructions on the site and no infection either. I’ve been taking prenatal vitamins and half and aspirin. I feel like I’ve done just about everything. I guess we will try the egg whites again next month. This is very emotional and I’m trying to maintain. Any suggestions? Great information by the way. I’m learning from the experiences of these women. Hopefully one day I’ll return with my own success story. KC
Hi Ashford,
3/19/10 A big warm South African HELLO to all the ladies on the big C (of course CLOMID), My husband and I have a 13 month old boy and have been trying for our 2nd for about 6 months. I recently had my 3rd operation (cysts removed, right ovary removed and part of left ovary removed) My doctor could save enough tissue on my left ovary for me to produce an egg. Well, having PCOS, and lots of scaring I am struggling to conceive and when the horrible PERIOD came last month, I freaked and phoned my gynae and he put me on 50mg Clomid. I started taking on day 3 so I should be ovulating any day now. However, MOOD SWINGS GALORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One minute I'm fine, the next I'm crying, then I'm being horrible with my husband for NO REASON AT ALL (good thing he loves me unconditionally) and then I want to have sex with him (right after being horrible) go figure. BLAMING IT ALL ON CLOMID. I don't know if I will see those TWO LINES this month, but who knows. To all you ladies having a hard time, just picture holding your baby for the first time, IT IS ALL WORTH IT, ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!! Baby Love dusted with a little Clomid Nicolene
3/15/10 I am on round three of Clomid. I tried 50mg which didn't make me ovulate so the next round I did 100mg. Interestingly enough when they tested my progesterone both times... it was only 0.2 (which means I didnt ovulate obviously). The Dr office was a little surprised it tested the exact same both times. Anyways I am now doing round three at 150 mg. So far I am hating it. I have had side effects all three times. I get horribly moody. So moody that I end up going home from work because I feel like I am on the edge of screaming at someone, or crying. I also have horrible hot flashes. This time on the 150 mg (which I am three days past the last pill) all the side effects have been much worse. My mood swings were horrible. They have calmed down but I am still moody. The hot flashes have not gotten any better. Now my newest thing is headaches. I have heard thats a side effect but I think my headaches are different. Its kind of embarrassing, but I get severe migraines during or after sex. It feels like someone is just squeezing my head with all their might. The pain just shoots thru my head and down thru my neck. Infact... I end up laying there for a minute unable to move my head until it subsides a little bit. Has anyone else had this problem? It is horrible! I am hoping that as the clomid wears off it will go away. It is tough knowing we are getting into the time when we need to have sex often to conceive, but the thought of the horrible migraines makes it all seem so daunting and miserable. It will be interesting to see if 150mg is enough to make me ovulate. I hope it works this time, but Clomid and I went from being friends to mortal enemies. I hope I NEVER have to take this high of a dosage again. Melissa 3/15/10 Hello. Just wanted to share what I've been through..... My husband and I have been together for 4 years and have been trying to conceive for 1 year with no luck. In January, my doc prescribed 50 mg clomid for days 5-9. The moodswings were bad, but the hotflashes were tolerable. Didn't O. My progesterone level was at .2 on cd21. The nurse said it needed to be around 10 or 14 to even support a pregnancy. I think that men and post-menopausal women have more progesterone than that.... :'( I waited on AF for a while and nothing happened, so I was put on provera to induce her arrival. A week after finishing the last pill, AF arrived and was very angry and aggressive... My doc doubled my dosage of clomid to 100mg for days 5-9 and I just finished that round. This one was rough! I went through full-on pregnancy symptoms - HORRIBLE morning sickness (and night sickness...and afternoon sickness), sensitivity to smells, sore breasts, headaches, backaches... and the usual hotflashes. My nurse talked to me like I was crazy and said that she wasn't aware that clomid could cause such nausea... WHATEVER! I'm hoping such harsh symptoms are a clue that it worked this time. I couldn't always take the pills at the same time everyday due to the horrible nausea and vomiting. I hope this didn'tadversely affect things. :\ Hopefully, in couple of weeks I'll get the BFP that I want SO badly. I wish my ovaries didn't hate me so much. :( -Sarah 3/15/10 I am on round three of Clomid. I tried 50mg which didn't make me ovulate so the next round I did 100mg. Baby Love dusted with a little Clomid Nicolene Cape Town Hi - My name is Liz. My husband and I are 32 and TTC since July. I will be starting my third cycle on chlomid. Each moth the dosage has been increased. I have had trouble sleeping, weight gain and hot flashes from the chlomid. I went for an HCG test today. We will see what happens. If I am not pregnant my next dose of chlomid will be 150.My doctor says 100-150 is avg and 250 is in extreme cases. Baby dust to all! Hello My name is Melissa and I am the prehistoric age of 41. Bam. I would love to hear any success stories or experiences from other seasoned gals. lol Hi, I am 36 years old going to be 37 years old soon. My husband and I have never used birth control from Day one of our wedding day, and even then had not conceived after 2 years. Finally I got pregnant last year but lost the baby in the first trimester. This year, we decided that we would give it a go again but with some medical help. Our doctor recommended Clomid and I am also on Metformin as my blood sugar was on the high level (even though I am not overweight). I am on my first cycle of Clomid. Day 26 of my cycle. I have been feeling nausea, and am vomiting every day, I have constant aching cramps, inability to sleep deeply, extreme fatigue all of the time, moodiness, aching breasts, lethargy and basically feeling really miserable. Reading all of the posts on this web page, encourages me to know that what I am experiencing is normal. Contrary to that its also discouraging, given my moody depressive feelings to know that I may not be pregnant on the first try either. Ultimately, it all comes down to how badly we want this to happen I guess. Given my state of mind right now.. that is a very good question! Thank you for having sites like this where women write about their experiences with Clomid to give some sort of idea of what is going on for women like me who have no clue. CLOMID NIGHTMARE: Hi momma Kath, Here are my experiences with Clomid. Not to scare anybody, but just as a warning, as my experiences are bad! I had one cycle of Clomid at 50 mg, which resulted in 4 follicles, so the dose was lowered to 25 mg, which I was on for another 10 cycles. During my second cycle I started to experience very heavy and painful periods, which continued from that time onwards. I had never had period problems before! One time it was so bad I had to go to A&E, where all they could think of was to send me home with pain killers. I told my fertility experts all of this, time and time again. During this time I also had an extremely painful HSG, which had me screaming on the table. We did not conceive on Clomid. When I came off it, a small polyp was detected in my womb, which was removed last year January. This did not relieve my painful periods. We had an IVF cycle in December, which failed at implantation. I had to practically chain myself to the clinic door to get my consultant to listen to my concerns about endometriosis as a possible cause of the failed IVF and my period problems. Finally, I have recently had a laparoscopy, whic h detected severe endometriosis with adhesions. I will need a full laparotomy to relieve this. This has probably destroyed my fertility. I did not have any of these problems before going on Clomid. Make sure your consultant listens to all your symptoms! This drug can be dangerous. Mickey Keep sending them in....here is the Clomid Index
Share your experiences with Clomid. Send me your Clomid Side Effects! I'll post it right here! Love Momma Kath
