Hi,
I have started my first month of clomid therapy at 100mg
with no success as yet.
My cm is still dry on cd14 but i don't have any hot flashes.
I do get however mood swings that seems to be driving me up the wall.
It is very depressing at times but hopefully next month
i would have some success at becoming a mom.

I am 28 with two children (all natural, birth and all).
Had tubes tied then reversed.
Been trying naturally for 1 year. Now I am on my third month of clomid.
I have grown to love the hot flashes because I am very cold natured.
I have very light cramping when I ovulate.
The mood swings I used to have and terrible cramping
during my periods have vanished.
The worst drawback has been the 10 - 15 lbs. gained.
Has someone else gained weight or felt like eating the whole time?
I am 5'3'' with a normal wt of 110 lbs.
I am going to have to get a new blasted ward drobe.
Tomorrow I will be late if I do not start,
but I realize God is the one in COMPLETE CONTROL.
PRAY FOR US.
Audrey

This is my first month on Clomid. My Dr. prescribed 50MG day 3-7.
I am scheduled to talk to him tomorrow about my day 12 blood test,
but am so frustrated because I thought FOR SURE it worked.
I had breast tenderness so bad, nausea and was so sleepy the last few days,
however today I had spotting and I think I am starting my period on day 24
(which is totally NOT normal for me!) - I am wondering if maybe it did work,
but I wasn't able to keep it or whether these symptoms are normal.
I am wondering if most people have these symptoms WHILE
they are actually physically taking the medication or throughout the cycle?
My symptoms didn't start until after I ovulated (according to my test kit). -
kat

Hi Kat
The symptoms you experienced are a result of a high progesterone level.
Progesterone triggers the mammary glands which causes our breasts to become sore.
Progesterone also softens ligaments/tissue in preparation for the expansion of pregnancy.
This causes our bowels to become sluggish which produces nausea and constipation.

So yes this is normal.
The progesterone level becomes dominant after ovulation.
So that explains why the symptoms occur after ovulation.
So enjoy the possibilities+++

My husband had a very successful varicocelectomy last November -
sperm count went from 9 m to 39 m -
and we thought that would be the end of the story -
but still no pg.
FSH/LH levels checked out OK,
but progesterone is low.
Gyno suggested Clomid.
Finished 1st round at 50 mg this month - we'll see what happens.
No real side effects except for high degree of emotion
(increased by sadness over my mom's sudden death in September).
Very slight feelings of heat - not a hot flash.
Keeping fingers crossed for eventual success -
have wanted to be a mom since I can remember.
Hubby also would love to be a dad!
Sending best wishes to everyone out there TTC!
Jennifer

In the past year and a half my husband and I have had 2 miscarriages.
Each time we were pregnant it happened right after I had stopped taking the pill,
and they were both surprises that had a sad ending.
When we actually started trying we were not successful.
My obgyn told us that I have LPD, so we are now in our first month of Clomid usage.
So far I have not had any severe side effects, but I have had headaches and some spotted vision.
I have been very nauseated yesterday and today.
I am on day 21 of my cycle, so I am not sure if it is good news or not.
I have had more obvious signs of pregnancy in the past, and I am too afraid to get my hopes up.
It was so nice to read everyones story.
I am the only person I know going through this struggle at the moment,
so it is very comforting to hear how everyone else is coping.
I wish you all the best as you try to conceive.
Jamie

4th month on clomid 50 mg and loathing it -
hot flushes about every half hour from days 7 to 15,
and an almost continuous and quite severe headaches
for the last 10 days of my cycle.
It must have been a bloke who invented it!
Good luck to everyone.
Nic, in Australia.

Hi. My name is Anna Johnson.
I'm 26 and my husband is 29.
We've been ttc #1 for 7 months.
I'm on my first round of Clomid with 50mg.
My period is due Jan. 16, 2004.
My side effects w/ clomid are hot flashes at night,
bloated, pain in my uterus, water retention,
acne, and fatigue.
Today I had really sharp pain in my uterus.
I've never had cramps w/ my period before so
I'm not sure what it was. Maybe Im pregnant.
I hope!! I could barely walk.
Thanks for this great website.
Sincerely,
Anna

I have a beautiful 3 year old thanks to Clomid.
I started taking Clomid 50m when i was 23
and it worked instantly I was pregnant on the 2nd attempt.
I had periodically experienced hot flashes but not as bad as what I heard,
however i did experience really bad abdominal pain, which ceased after the
2nd month but boy were they bad. I'm now 26 and currently taking my second
month of Clomid and nothing yet. I guess I have to increase my dosage.
Wish me luck !!

Hi,
I am now 29 yrs old. I have had two beautiful children with the help of Clomid.
I have never had a regular period because of polysystic ovaries.
With my first child I got pregnant the first month and with
my second child I got pregnant the second month.
The second pregnancy started off with two sacks
unfortunately one did not develop,
there is however a history of twins in my husbands side.
We are planning our third child,
I have just finished my course of provera
to bring on my period and then start my clomid.

This is my first month with clomid.
My husband and I have been trying for 18 months
but my 40 day cycle hasn't been an easy one to work around.
Yesterday was my last day of clomid (50mg) and I
have had severe hot flashes. It was 14 degrees out
last night and I had the window open, the heat turned down,
and I slept without covers. I am a teacher and all the students
were frozen today because I kept turning the heat down.
I think tomorrow I will wear a summer dress!
On the first day of taking clomid I experienced nausea
and throw up for awhile.
This happened about 12 hours after taking the pill.
I haven't had this happen again but I am a little dizzy.
I hope I don't have to take this for to long and I am a
little nervous about some of the side effects others of you have had!
It is scary but it will all be worth it if
I get to hold a baby in my arms!
Rebecca

I took three rounds of Clomid and the side effects made my nervous.
They started out were I could handle it.
The first month just severe head aches and some nausea.
By the third round I had nausea, dizzyness,
bloating, tenderness of lower abdomen,
drowsyness and blurred vision.
Needless to say I quit and am leaving it in the hands of God

My experience wtih clomid
I lost my right ovary to a life threatening 3 pound ovarian cyst in 1999.
So...we only had 1 ovary left. We had been ttc for about 3 months
but my cycles were very irregular. Doctor believed I wasn't ovulating.
I was also quite heavy at the time. He gave me the 50mg dosage of
Clomid to take Day 3-7 and told me not to get my hopes up.
I didn't...but after some blood tests and my progesterone level spiking...
we were hopeful. I took a pg test and lo and behold...it was positive.
Two days later I took another one...and still positive.
Our precious daughter will be 3 in February. (yay!)
We are now ttc #2. My cycles are really irregular again
even though I've lost quite a bit of weight...
so my doctor will most likely give me another dose of Clomid.
We hope and pray that it works as well this time as it did the first.
Looking forward to our next beautiful blessing!
Maralee

I have been on clomid for three months now.
Does anyone eles get a lot of pelvic cramping.
I notice it more after the 10th day of my cycle.
It also is uncomfortable to have sex with my husband,
I have noticed a lot of pressure in my pelvic region.
I am also extremely bloated.
MY abdominal area has doubled since I started the clomid.
I have a large pouch where my stomach once was.

Hi...My name is Lisa and my husband and I have been
trying, on Clomid, to conceive for four months now.
Side effects for me have been ringing in the ears,
heart palpitations and headaches on days five and six on each cycle.
I have also had some mild abdominal pain (shooting pains) and also,
It seems I can feel my ovaries at all times during the month..
I almost wonder if I have the enlarged ovaries
that is a common side effect to this medication.
Good luck to all.

My Clomid Side Effects
I have been taking Clomid for three months now.
The first month I took 50mg with no side effects.
The next two months 100mg and I have been extremely bloated
and also gained weight. I almost can not stand it as I feel very
uncomfortable almost every day of the cycle due to the bloated feeling.
I feel like I have been pumped up like a balloon.
Is this normal?

Dear Rebecca
If it were me, I would take it as a sign that clomid may not be right for me.
It seems to me that if clomid didn't work in the first 3 months,
it's probably not going to work and all you are doing is creating more
of a hormone imbalance by continuing to use it.
Clomid is not for everyone and when I see the extreme side effects
like you describe I feel you are not doing yourself any favors
by continuing with it.
There are ways to encourage ovulation with herbs.
Herbs unlike chemicals work towards restoring hormone balance
for the long run (not just tricking the body to super ovulate in the hopes that you will conceive.)
Also, I am finding abdominal exercise to be our best offense towards remaining fertile and a thriving libido.
We tend to store fat there and this encourages old estrogen to linger. Not good for fertility.
You may want to try Pilates to strengthen the pelvic girdle, which can lock up (Psoas Muscle a/k/a Pelvic Girdle) and create infertility. The Pilates Body
Let me know if I can assist further as I am dedicated to helping women
find the very best solution towards succeeding in the TTC journey.
Lots of love and positive thoughts :o}

Hi Momma Kath!
I just wanted to let the ladies know that Month #1 one I took clomid,
50mg and had 2 teeny hot flashes -- that was it. I didn't Ovulate either.
Side effects and whether or not you ovulate are not interrated because
I'm on month #2 now and on 100mg and I did ovulate -
big time!! Actually for the first time in 13 months!
And I had zero side effects! So I'm thrilled beyond words.
And I ovulated on cd15 which I've never done in my life.
When I've ovulated it was always on cd20 or later.
Ovulating was "normal" -- a little cramping and that was it.
But it had been so long for me that it felt weird.
Now I'm 6dpo and waiting to see if I'm pregnant.
Best wishes to all of you and I'm hoping
you have as good of luck on clomid as I've had.
Jenn

This is my second month on 50 mg of Clomid.
Both months have been almost identical.
Take the pills on days 5-9, and I have the nausea
and lightheadedness and those darn hot flashes.
I have had a headache on day 9, then it goes away.
I have experienced abdominal aches as I get closer to ovulation.
[The odd thing, that my doctor and I are looking at is that on days
7-10 of my cycle on Clomid, my BBT has jumped to anywhere between
97.5-98.1. My BBT will drop on day 11 to 97.4 and gradually move down
until the surge before ovulation. Haven't been pg yet, but I am still
on my second cycle, so wish me luck. In the meantime, we are still
looking at the temperatures just in case. If anyone has experienced
this, I would really like to know.
Tammy

Hi,
I saw that you were looking for Clomid stories.
I don't have much of one to tell yet though.
This is my first cycle with Clomid.
My doctor started me off on 100 mg on CD 3-7.
I've just taken the fourth of five doses.
So far, my reaction is basically nothing.
The only thing I've noticed is a slight headache
when I move my eyes when I wake up but it's
gone in a half hour.
I've been trying to conceive for six months.
I had an "all clear" HSG in November.

Hi there,
I am 38 years of age My husband is 42,
We had our first child February 21, 2003,
by insemination and clomid after 2 months on it.
We are now trying for Baby # 2
and I am on my third month of clomid.50mg
I have been experiencing major mood swings,
My husband has been so understanding.
Thank God,
Also I have been experiencing flashing in my eyes,
I can't really explain it.
Does anyone else experience this?
Thank You
Kristan in Buffalo, N.Y
