I'm 28, TTC for about a year and first cycle on Clomid. I am on 50mg and finished my last pill about 3 days ago. I thought I wasn't having any side effects, but the past few days I have been really, really moody. Worse than PMS. Almost everything my husband says or does irritates me. (he's being very understanding). I didn't know what was wrong until I started thinking maybe it was the Clomid. Well, this will be our first try on Clomid so we will see if it's all worth it. I have beautiful twin nieces, (the product of Clomid treatments) and wish I could be so lucky. I thought I would share this with whoever will be looking for some information on clomid side possible side effects. When I finished my first 50mg cycle of clomid I was feeling okay, and I decided to document every day with symptoms and side effects to keep track. It was very easy for me to tell that I had O'd because I was doubled over with lower ab cramping and then took an OPK to make sure I was and I ended up being right. The following week, let me give you in point form the symptoms that I went through (and I would have bet someone money that I was PG based on these symptoms) just in case someone else gets them, because trust me I searched high and low on all of the discussion boards I could find even on your clomid symptoms board and asked the girls there and no one could relate or even respond to my questions, so I will give you some symptoms that I went through just in case so some other women won't end up let down and totally mortified when AF shows up thinking you are PG. Couldn't even handle material touching them. and weighed four hundred tons a piece and sore as hell. show up on each breast which DH thought was funny to trace with his finger, maybe he figured they led to a pot of gold! LMAO! putting my rings on and taking them off, even shoes were a bitch to wear. I felt lightweight and was full of energy and raring to go, and guess what showed up??? And I normally have painful AF's and this time nothing, no PMS symptoms nothing! Just out of the blue my AF showed up to say hello! So in some way, I hope this helps someone, because my 2 week wait was excruciating wanting someone to just tell me that these could be side effects of the clomid, and no one could say anything, so I had convinced myself (and you can understand why) that everything I was feeling meant that I had a baby in there. Also, my chart showed a triphasic pattern, third level rise in temps, which really did me in. Now I am going into the second cycle, OH JOY, I am looking forward to what this will entail. Hopefully it will be all worth it in the end and I will have a little one in my arms, and can laugh at all of this afterwards! 1st timer Chlomid Hi I found this site while looking for the side effects of Chlomid and WOW did I find them. This is my story.... I had my first daughter when I was 17 and on "THE PILL" .... Then after 4 yrs had a Ectopic (tube saved). Then tried again in 1999 and miscarried early 3-4 weeks. Then had the HCG test tubes were clear and 2 months later pregnant with baby girl #2 who is now 2yrs and 10 months. Have been trying unsuccessfully to conceive for 1 year and 10 months. Recently had the HCG, AI, sperm count and all is fine but no luck on the AI....... Starting first round of Chlomid 50mg on day 5-9... .I am really nervous..... espeacially after hearing all of these side effects. But it is very comforting to hear I am definately not alone.... and I pray for all of you out ther who are ttc and hope that all of our prayers will be answered with a sweet spirit......... Patiently Waiting I am 30 yrs. old and trying to get pregnant for the first time. My husband and I have been trying for 6 months with no luck. I have had irregular periods all my life and decided to look for some help. My OB/BYN prescribed me Provera which was to make me have a period. Once that began on day 3 of my cycle I was to start the Clomid 50 mg. (cd 3-8). So far no side effects, but then again I'm only on day 2 of the Clomid. I will keep you all posted of any side effects. This is my 4 time with clomid I start with 50 mgs and now is 100 mgs. No hot flashes and my moods have not changed much. Susana I went on Clomid about a year ago for the first time because of PCOS. I tried 3 rounds of it, everytime I ovulated but no pregnancy. I did have severe mood swings, no hot flashes (but I am always hot!!), and breast tenderness. I have been trying to conceive for about 3 years now, but nothing yet. I am going to go to 100 mg of Clomid in the next couple days, so we will see. Thanks, Tara We are both 30,7 months ttc.this is my first month on clomid100mg from day 3 to 7 50 mg twice a day.the brand name in India is Ovofar. i have always had normal, regular af.dh sperm count was a little less than normal and so he is taking the same drug 25mg. hope it works.i am already getting frustrated.i have not experienced any side effect of the drug. only on my 27th day i had a v.bad headache.but i guess it was due to stress at work and pollution .the only visible side effect was there was no EWCM.so it was difficult to pinpoint ovulation. i usually ovulate around day16/17. Opks r not easily available in India. anyway we bd from day 13 to day 22. Good luck to all who r trying. I'm writing back just to let you all know of some side effects I think I'm experiencing on Clomid. I took my last dose of Clomid 50 mg. on Thursday, it is now Monday. I had a slight hot flash encounter on Friday, but none since. However starting yesterday (Sunday) I have had a terrible headache, today isn't as bad. I am hopefully to O between days 12 and 16 of my cycle. My dr. suggested we try to conceive on day 12, 14 and 16. Well tomorrow is day 12 and hopefully it will work. If I don't have a period by Dec. 4 I am to take a HPT. Wish me luck and I wish the best to all of you. Becky Hi I am 28 yrs old and have been trying for over a year to get pg. This is my first time on clomid and I am supposed to go for a blood test tomorrow to see if I ovulated, however my temperature has not risen yet. I usually ovulate every cycle, but usually on day 22 or 23, and tomorrow is day 21, is it common to ovulate later than normal? I guess the dr thought this would be the least expensive thing to try first. I am so fortunate, I have had NO side effects yet from the clomid, I took it on days 5-9. Heres hoping for us all, Tina hello, i am 24 and on my first round of clomid, 50mg. today is day 16 and since day 13 i have had the worst lower abdominal pain ever. it is a constant cramping feeling. i was really getting concerned and wondering if this was normal. i was relieved to read that other women have experienced this same symptom. i'm hoping that this abdominal pain is a sign that i am ovulation this week. i can only hope for the best. best wishes to all. Today I finished my 3rd round of Clomid pills (50 mg.) and will have another IUI whenever my next LH surge happens. (Sometime next week.) I just turned 42 and have been TTC for a little over 2 years now. Very frustrating, a real emotional roller-coaster ride! My doc said it's all about the eggs� at my age, so hopefully Clomid will do what it does best for me. I was told by the nurse at my doc�s office that the Clomid/IUI process tends to be more successful between the 3rd and 5th tries, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. So far I have not had any serious side effects from the Clomid. I've experienced some mild to moderate hot flashes, and very mild, occasional moodiness (but that�s normal for me! ha ha), and so far ~knock on wood~ no cysts. One thing I was wondering about though: my gynecologist called me after my pap smear last month to report �low-grade dysplasia.� First time in my life! I asked if it could be related to the fertility treatments and she said no� so I have to have a colposcopy in 2 weeks. Just one more invasive thing to endure!! I hope this story has a happy ending! JG I have had 3 m/c's and now im on my 5th cd of 50mg chlomid. this is the 1st month for me. I've been married for 1year and no luck. i feel very bad headaches and depressed. Hi, I've just finished 2nd month of clomid (50mg). Ovulated both times, but no pregnancy. Been ttc for almost 1 1/2 yrs. Have not had bad side effects at all, only a little moody and slight cramps that come and go. I'm praying for month 3 of clomid to work :) Kelli my first month on clomid had all my tablets and all is well . Had no side effects . Before i started them my cycle could be upto 47 days so its a guess when i ovulate so this month after taking the tablets could be easier to judge. Have to go back to the doctors next month for a higher dosage was only on 50mg and go for another blood test tomorrow. What is it the higher the dosage the side effects kick in big time? Have been ttc17months and am 26yrs joanne I am 34. I have been on clomid for three months now and have experienced new side effects each month. THe first month I had blurred vision in dim light. If I put my hand in front of me and moved it around, I would see trails. I was concerned, but my doctor said it was temporary and perfectly okay. The second month, in addition to the blurred vision, I had incredible cramps and headaches! This last month I have had these crazy hot flashes and difficulty sleeping!! It is making me crazy, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Kerri Ann I have finished my second lot of clomid and am now on my 11th day of my period (i know not normal) ive had all the side effects from hair loss to ovarian pain. I just read a page while surfing the net that said some birth defects may come up in the child if clomid is taken while pregnant and this usually happens when woman dont even realise they're pregnant because some have a full basically a full body clean out now im worried not to mention upset at the fact of not knowing my period started really light and ended heavy and is now still going lightly dont know what to do. my other half tries to understand but just cant... .going to see doc tomorrow if i can get in . Tammie Hi, I am 25 years old. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years. No luck! I was on 50mg clomid for 3 cycles and had to stop due to cysts. Recently, my doctor has put me on 25mg for 2 cycles. I am in the 1 cycle on day 15. Since day 7, my husband and I had intercourse every other night. We are hoping it will work. We are feeling frustrated and helpless. I am experiencing extreme hot flashes and headaches. After the first 3 cycles of clomid I did not AF for 3 months. I feel that my hormone levels are going crazy. Do you have any suggestions or comments? I love your website! It is so comforting to know there are others who are struggling with the same problems. MSG Hi... We have been ttc for about 6 mos. for #1. I am on my second round of Clomid 50 mg.(cd3-7) which I began yesterday. We had no luck the first round. My only side effects after the first round was a headache and a mild hot flash. I pray that it works this time. The bad thing about this is my husband is due to leave December 21 with his National Guard Unit and could be gone well over a year. We want so badly for me to become pregnant before he goes. This is our last chance for a long time. My doctor said I should ovulate around the 14th and that we should try every other day until he leaves. Hopefully this time will be it. This site has been such a tremendous help.
