Hello my name is La'Shonda and I'm 28yrs old.
I have been trying to conceive for as long as I can remember.
I was in a relationship for 9 years and I never became pregnant.
Now I'm getting ready to get married
o my wonderful soon-to-be husband
and we are talking about having a kid or kids.
My periods were always irregular and
at the time I didn't have health insurance
so they don't tell you what you don't pay for..
So they couldn't and didn't tell me why I was so irregular.
I mean it doesn't run in the family,
and my younger sisters have kids with no problems.
Anyway to make a long story short I went and
got health insurance because I wanted to know
and needed to know what could be done and
what should be done as far as me having children.
First my doctor had me take all kinds of blood test and
hormone test and those test came back fine,
then she tried to give me birth control just to
bring my periods on but I refused them because
I wanted to get pregnant not avoid it.
So then she scheduled me for an HSG
and while she preformed that I hemorrhage
on my left side while the dye was being inserted.
But she assured me that nothing was wrong
and that test came out fine.

My Fiancee' had to do the SA but he has children already
so I really didn't want to put him through that.
(You know how some men can be about that).
But after twisting his arm and
crying my heart out he finally gave in for me.
That test came back fine.
I started my first cycle of clomid on the 17th of August
and I'm waiting for ovulation to start
I already finished my last pill on Friday..
I wonder when the side effects will take effect because
I have had none and I kind of wanted to experience them
because it would give me some assurance that I was
taking them right or at least that it is working and
I know everybody is different but you know
how you have to go through it to know it.

That is my short story about my clomid experience it's not much.
I will try to keep in touch and let you know how things go
Thank You,
La'Shonda

I'm 30 and been married nearly six years.
Been trying to get pregnant for years now-
natural way in the beginning until I found out
I have an infertility problem.
My doctor has presently put me on clomid
and I have done several cycles.
He has first put me on 50mg and my body reacted well to it,
but no pregnancy. He put me on 100mg then now on 150mg
along with IUI since we found out my husband also
as a sperm count problem. At least my doctor said so,
even though the lab thinks his sperm count is actually good.
I also did about 3 cycles on 100 mg but nothing happened.
Anyway, it is my third cycles on 150mg and IUI.
Today I got my period, so you can imagine how depressed I am.
I've tried this medication and experienced the side effects
which most people mentioned. I have severe headaches,
depression, severe cramps during my period,
heavy menstruation and moodiness.
My moodiness and depression has brought me
close to walking off on my husband.
I have been wondering what is going on with me,
but now that I have read your stories and see that
depression and moodiness, anger and weepiness
are side effects experienced by some I feel better now.
I also have gained quite some weight even though
I work out at the gym regularly (3 times per week)
and I do not eat excessively. My breast have enlarged
( I now wear a much bigger size than I did 2 years ago before Clomid)
and this I find very perturbing.
I've moved from a 34 B to 38 B
Has anyone experienced enlarged breasts?
Thank you for sharing your stories. It really gives support.
Janet
My husband and I have tried for a baby for 2 years with no success,
i felt as if i would never have a baby and was very depressed.
I found this site when my doctor prescribed Clomid for irregular cycles
( between 21 and 27 days). Any way I am on my 2nd month of taking
Clomid and have taken a test after going to 34 days -
it is positive so you see Clomid really does work,
it may work for you too !!!
I wanted to write this because this site gave me hope
when i was very down
and I want to offer the same help to others - keep trying.
Another thing that helped me was the ovulation sticks
that show you exactly when you ovulate,
they are a bit expensive but they have allowed us to know
exactly when i ovulated.
Best wishes - Mia
I just wanted to let your readers know that if you have EVER used
Clomid, no matter for how long or short of a time, you and maybe your
whole family is UNINSURABLE if you have to apply for individual
coverage. Individual coverage is most often used by someone who is
self-employed or doesn't have benefits at work. Although there are few
side effects and an extremely low rate of multiple births, insurance
companies use it as a cop-out to deny health care coverage. I was told
by a number of underwriters if you have ever taken it they won't insure
you, no matter what. My Dr. has helped me write letters but it's no use.
I loved the chance to have my children, but now my children don't have
insurance because of what I didn't know.
Sign me - cwm

It just so happens that I have a Cigna (Health insurance) agent in the lobby at this very moment, and I asked about Un-insurability...
They agree that Infertility could be considered a pre-existing condition for individual insurers... but, if you are covered now, and continue to be covered, you can't be denied coverage........ (Always a loop hole in Insurance... I know.)
I have two beautiful daughters aged 11 and 8 whom I conceived without clomid.
My third daughter was delivered prematurely and thereafter was diagnosed with fibroids.
She passed away at 2 months and had an operation to have the fibroid removed.
Started a course of clomid in July.
My Dr started me on 50mg and have been taking that for the last two months.

Having been on clomid for 3 months now.
Yes the hot flashes and headaches are something
I cannot stand and of late have developed moodiness and
have all my family running away the moment I enter the house.
Anyway have just finished my last course of tabs and waiting for results.
Pray for me.
Stella

I started on 50 mg of Clomid in July. I had went with/o a cycle for two years.
I'm on a 5-9 days cycle also of Clomid. I've had the hot flashes,
the cramping, some weight gain.
And now this month I'm having the exessive bleeding.
Changing every hour. Which I agree with somebody else
that's worse than hot flashes.
I have Adneomysis, Endometriosis, and PCOS.
Me and my dh have been TTC for 3 yrs now.
I start my third month of clomid on Thursday (9/11/03).
What a day to start huh?! Please keep me in your prayers.
I'll keep you posted. And by the way when I first started taking
Clomid I had the moderate ovarian pain also, associated to ovulation.
I take 1000mg of Metformin/Glucaphage & the 50 mg clomid.
Maybe it'll work the dr. said hopefully
when I go back at the end of October maybe I'll be pg.
Love ya'll. Keep trying!!!!!
Don't give up.
Allison
I'm currently taking my 5th course of Clomid,
the first 3 were the usual 50mg on days 2-6,with no sign of ovulation,
and I'm now taking my second cycle of 100mg,
Thank god I've found this website for a bit of comfort as DH
is on nights and I feel I could cry at the drop of a hat,
in between hot flushes and af being v v heavy I only hope that
it will eventually worth while, as we've been trying to get pg
for almost 3 years and I can't help but think that I'll never have a child............
heck I think I get real, talk about making myself feel worse
... ;-)
Hi my name is angie and I have been ttc for two years.
This is my second time trying clomid,
last October, November, and December.
(needless to say it wasn't a good christmas)
anyway I am now starting my first of three months this time.
I gained twenty pounds last yr a side effect no one mentioned
until about a month ago and my cycle was longer on clomid.
Maybe this is helpful but probably stuff you already knew.
Hi! I thought you might be able to use my experience on your site. =)
I have pcos, and don't normally o on my own.
My doctor started me on clomid, 50mg, cds 3 - 7.
I had one good follicle that time, and o'd on cd15.
I had no side effects - NONE!
I even got pregnant!
I was so happy.
But then I lost the baby.
I had to wait a month and then my doctor said
he wanted to up my dose to raise my progesterone.
So this time we went with 200mg.
A big jump, I was a little scared at first.
But it was ok. My only side effect was headaches,
and even then they weren't that bad. I could handle these.
I had two follicles this time, and had the hcg shot.
I o'd again on cd15, but did not get pregnant.
Now I am once again on 200mg.
I just took my first four pills today.
I think that probably, once again,
I will have the headaches, but that's probably about it.
Hopefully, this will be our lucky month,
and we wont have to ttc for another year or so!!!
Crystal
TTC #2, 3rd round of clomid, 2nd on 200 mg
i am 30yrs old and have been on clomid 50mg
for about year and still have not conceived.
the dose have been increased to 150mg for this cycle
but so far the side effects of clomid have ben hot flushes and blurring.
the positive thing is that it has dramitically cleared the acne on my
face-don't know whether that's normal.
wish me luck

I started 50mg of chlomid at the end of July.
The first few days on it, my breast were a little achy
and my vision seemed a little blurred.
I'm not quite sure if me having glaucoma
has anything to do with the blurred vision
or it was just a combination.
I insisted that my doctor put me on Chlomid
because my cyles were beginning to be irregular,
making it hard for me to pin point when I need to ttc.
My doctor also ordered me to take my temp every morning.
Well, I now know when I'm ovulating!
I just have to get use to.
Michelle
31 yrs old

I have been on clomid for 3 months and
still have not gor pregnant wish i could.
It gets discouraging sometimes.
My doctor only prescribed to me for 5 months.
Is this medcine ever gonna work???

The first time I took Clomid,
I took 50mg once a day on days 5 - 9 of my cycle.
I noticed a slight dizziness, but it was perfectly tolerable.
Otherwise, I felt great.
Unfortunately, I didn't ovulate and my doctor told me
we'd have to up the dose the next time around.

My husband and I took a year and a half off from
trying due to a back injury I had which required surgery.
Forward to the present. Last week I began taking
100mg of Clomid, once a day, again on days 5 - 9 of my cycle.
For the first two days, I noticed again a slight dizziness
but this time I also had hot flashes and mood swings -
mostly depression/weepiness. Even still, it wasn't too bad........
until the third day.
By the third day, the symptoms were even more intense.
In addition to those symptoms,
I also developed a severe anxiety which alternated with severe depression.

Now I should add that I am already prone to depression
and anxiety with panic attacks, so perhaps that is why the
Clomid affected me the way it did, but it was absolutely awful.
Towards the end of the last day, it became so bad that
I wasn't sure I even wanted to take the final dose.
I literally felt as if I was losing my mind -
instead of feeling any joy at the prospect of becoming a mother,
I felt only an intense anxiety and dread.
I also had periods where I had thoughts of hurting myself.
Again, this could have been because I was already prone to
depression/anxiety, but I think more doctors should forewarn
patients who are thinking of taking the drug.
I was never told to watch out for anything of the sort,
and when I asked my doctors I was told, "No.
Clomid doesn't affect people that way."

I've now been off the Clomid for three days and I am finally
beginning to feel back to normal.
I just hope that the current dosage of Clomid was enough
to make me ovulate because I don't think I could handle
it if I had to take it again, especially not at a higher dosage.
Kristin

I was on clomid 50mg two years ago and conceived my daughter
on the second month. I don't remember any side effects.
But now we are trying for baby #2 and once again
I am not ovulating and am on clomid.
Last month I started on 50 mg and according
to my fertility monitor I did not ovulate.
I had some hot flashed and alot of moodiness,
but nothing severe.
Now I am on 100 mg and have not had the first side effect. I still am not ovulating,
but I'm scared for them to increase my dosage!
Good luck to everyone!
Kayla

Hi,
Its my first cycle on clomid and I have been experiencing
extremely frequent hot flushes, nausea, weird feeling of being vague,
alternating with emotional outbursts, but worst of all night sweats.
The night sweats occur every night and I wake up 3 - 4 times
drowned in sweat and feeling extremely weak.
Like other clomid takers, I investigated the side effects myself
via the internet and am glad to have found a site where
night sweats were included, as all the regular information
did not include this side-effect, so I was getting worried.
Hopefully the treatment will work and will all have been worth it.
Thanks for the support.

Hi all,
I'm 25 and have been ttc for the last 2 1/2 years.
Having had a laparoscopy, the doctors have
informed me that I have PCO's,
and that the next step is to start on clomid.
I am now on day two of the clomid. Am having side-affects already.
I had a headache all day yesterday about
four hours after taking my first tablet!! Last night was crazy-
I am usually always cold but went to bed
and with the hot flushes-
had all the windows open wide with no covers.
Then woke up in the middle of the night
with a thumping headache.
Today on day two no side-affects
so far apart from a slight headache!!
Anyway any side-affects are worth it,
if it helps us to conceive!!!!!!!!!
