Hi everyone! This is the first email I have sent to any site. We have been ttc for 1 1/2 yrs.( I am soon 32 DH is 28) I have been taking Clomid for 9 mos.100 mg days 5-9 ... no luck yet. Got pregnant the first month but miscarried early. The specialist finally did some tests (just last month) and everything is normal...nothing bad...nothing great. Side effects for me were the normal ones, moody, headaches, and mild hot flashes. I also experienced side effects such as nausea, dizziness, no appetite etc after ovulation... .this didn't happen every month only 3 or 4 times.... when this happened I thought for sure I was pregnant.. .I didn't know these were side effects of Clomid until I read on this site that others had these too! I am so glad to know this now... not to get my hopes up when this happens. I also discovered that I was ovulating really late. I have been doing BBT for 1 yr and charting everything (temp up on day 21 everytime) and the doc would tell me that we were timing everything good (sex day 18 - 20 or so), well she did a vaginal ultrasound on day 21 and I still hadn't ovulated, follicle was going to burst within 24-36 hrs. So, perhaps we were timing things wrong. (got busy that day and the next few) but no luck this month again. So if nothing happens next month doc is going to do IUI. She says I am a great canadidate for this because DH is ok, I am ok except I have a "very" small cervical opening. I am finding it very hard to relax about TTC I get very upset every month when AF appears... .thank you for sharing your stories, I am glad to know there are others going through this too.! Good luck to all TTC! A Canadian friend! I have been on clomid 50mg for my second month. I have developed ovarian hyperstimulation and have to go to the doctor tomm., I have had severe pain near my right ovary area, 5 lbs gained in 4 days, one inch around waist gained (severe bloating), and now difficulty breathing. I may need to have my stomach drained. This was never brought up by my doctor before taking clomid that it increases the risk of OHS. Be aware of your body changes while on clomid. Lisa Hi, this is my first month on Clomid 50mg. Like most of you, I am unfamiliar with what to expect. I did'nt see any CM when I thought I would've normally OV, then about two days later I saw CM, and around this time I had some more painful than normal cramping on my left side. I think I experienced a mini hot flash, but nothing major. (I know what Hot Flashes are as I had a "Chemically induced Menopause" years ago). I am on Clomid because I had questioned my OB about whether I could be LPD, and my progesterone did come back low. I have to test again on day 21, and we are also trying this month, I hope it's not too soon for that but my DH could'nt put life on hold any longer... I also wanted to add that I am sorry for all of us who have had to learn what infertility means and all of the lingo that goes with it. My BEST wishes to you all and God Bless! Robin R, N.J. Well this is my second month on clomid. The first month my doctor started me off on 50mg. I had 1 full mature follicle and one which wasn't. This is my second month on clomid still on 50mg. I went for a follicle check on day 14 and the doctor didnt see any. The doctor it looked like I had already ovulated because there was some liquid on my lining. Still don't know if I'm prego yet I will know in 7 days. If not the doctor told me he will put me up to 100mg on the third month. The side effects I feel like i'm having on hot flashes and anxiety. The anxiety can just be from being so anxious leading up to take the pregnancy test. I also feel like a put on a little weight. The doctor told me it could be from my harmones changing. Well hope to be prego next month. I'll keep you posted!!!! Hi, I love your site. It is great to discover that many of the things I am experiencing are not unusual. I am 35 and have been prescribed Chlomiphene to trigger ovulation. I took 50mg last month (first month) and experienced light-headedness. Took the tabs in the am. So this cycle I tried taking them at night after dinner. Have experienced chronic bloating and fluid retention in the 2nd wk, hot flushes (during the night only) and around O day (day 16 I reckon according to temp chart) constant cramps and aching in the pelvic region. Now on day 18 and still cramping. Cherie Hi. I'm 35 yrs old and my husband and I have been ttc for 8 months now. This is my 1st cycle of Clomid at 50 mg and happy to announce that I didn't have any side affects. 7 more days until period is due and we'll see what happens! Just wanted to write to let people know that not everyone gets hot flashes or gains weight from Clomid. We'll see if this works, if not, I'm not stressing over it, it's really not in my hands but in Gods. Ronni I'm 32 & been pregnant 7 times since age 18. Had NO problems in early 20's getting preg. Had 4 full term births & 1 miscarriage by age 25! Tubes tied after 4th birth. Later divorced & remarried at 28. Had a tubal reversal age 31 June 2002. Started ttc Aug. 2002. Was preg by end of Sept. 2002 but miscarried at 4-5 weeks. Got preg. again late Nov. but miscarried just before Christmas at 5-6 weeks. Whether tubal or uterine pregnancies was never determined with either. Miscarried too soon. Dr. said likely uterine because no med's needed to complete miscarriages. Periods prior to age 30 EVERY 30 days like clock-work! After turning 30 usually 34 days, but ranged from 23-41 days. Started Clomid & Progesterone treatment Jan. 2003. 1st month had no side effects. In fact, I felt GREAT! 2nd, 3rd & 4th months felt preg. after ovulation (esp. month 3). Naseau, vomiting, tender/enlarged breasts, but test! s were neg. & periods came - although late. 5th month Clomid on cd 10 had HSG & tubes confirmed open, May 2003. 5th month no preg. symptoms. Cycle ended, still not preg . Dr. stopped Clomid & refered me to fertility specialist. Don't understand why I got preg. twice in the fall w/out the help of Clomid (miscarried, but still concieved!) then once treatment started, nothing! Could I have gotten preg. months 2-4 but miscarried very early? Could the Clomid make my uterine lining too thick for implantation? Could the Progesterone be to blame? Or should my dr. have given Clomid 1 more cycle? I keep reading you need at least 4-6 cycle before stopping. Worry about stronger fertility drugs.... multiple births, side effects & cost. Can't get in to see specialist till next month. Am going to ttc the natural way in the mean time. Will let you all know if it worked! Thanks for all your stories.... helps to know I'm not alone! Charli Hi Cheri
I'm 27 years old and have been trying to get pregnant for a short time. I found out that I have polycystic ovarian syndrome, and my doctor recommended chlomid. I recently finished my first cycle of chlomid (50 mg days 5-9 of my cycle), and my ovulation predictor test just detected my leutinizing hormone (LH) surge this morning (day 16 of my cycle). So, I guess I'll be ovulating 24-36 hours from now. On day 12 of my cycle I broke out in hives all over my torso, especially under the arm pits, around the nipples, in the belly button. I thought it was because of my cold, but now I'm pretty sure it was because of the chlomid. On day 13 of my cycle, I experienced very bad menstrual-like cramps. Again, I'm attributing this to the chlomid. I'm very nervous about this whole experience, and I'm glad to have found this site. It's nice to know that others are experiencing similar side effects, an d I hope my stories can help others feel less "alone" in the whole experience! Kathy, 27, trying to conceive 1st baby, 1st round of chlomid I have a beautiful 7 year old daughter that I was lucky enough to conceive without any help... except from my husband..lol. We started to try having another child when our daughter was 2 without any luck for the past 5 years. My doctor put me on clomid. The first two cycles were 50mg with no success. I had no side effects at all with those cycles. After the first two cycles did'nt work i had a hysterosalpingogram done and found out that on top of having PCOS i also had blocked fallopian tubes... so i had them successfully cleared. Now im on my third cycle of clomid.. .100mg this time. I've been having hot flashes.. i cry for no reason at all... and have been having really bad cramping since day 13... it is now day 16. BUT if this works then all this pain is worth it!!! ~3 Laura ~3 Hi! Thanks for having these stories up. Here's my story.... I'm 34 with pcos. take 1500 mg Glucaphage and baby aspirin. For current pregnancy have been trying for 2 yrs. Am on my third round of 50-mg clomid days 5-9. I'm being monitored by ultrasound and when the eggs are just right I give myself an HCG trigger-shot. I took my last clomid pill 2 days ago and go in for an ultrasound tomorrow. I have been moody, mild headaches, hot flashes, sore boobs. I got Ovarian Hyper-stimulation the last two cycles. I ended up in the ER because of the pain in the first cycle. I think I had a moderate case but they now tell me I had a mild case. The pain in the second cycle was controllable with tylenol. It's too early to tell yet if I get OHSS for the current cycle. First cycle I had a metallic taste but an not sure if it was clomid or the root canal. My preg history has been happy and sad. Miscarriage - early, April 1998 Son who is now 4... Yeah!!!. Took clomid for one cycle through ob/gyn and it was determined then I didn't ovulate... so in the 45 day wait to get in to see a RE specialist and a cycle after clomid we conceived.... (had been trying 2 1/2 years) I HATED the clomid. Miscarriage - etopic (tube saved!), Jan 2002 Miscarriage - early, Nov 2002 I've also been diagnosed with a blood clotting agent in my blood which might account for the early miscarriages. Jen This is my first month on clomid. I take 50mg days 3-7 and then gynodiol days 8-12(estrogen). I am currently on cd 10. So far I have had pretty painful headaches and the hot flashes. I wake up sweating on and off throughout the night. Other than that nothing else. We have been trying to conceive for 2 years. I am 28 and DH is 26. I hope this works! Michelle My name is Mary and I used clomid to get pregnant. And boy did it work!! My doctor was very professional and explained to me that I probably wouldn't get pregnant on the first try. But I did! Today I have very happy and healthy twin daughters who just turned 6 last month. I thank God for the medical help that I received since having a family was a dream of mine!!! I would recommend it to people who need help. I ovulate regularly, but after years of not having a child I demanded clomid from my gynae. I usually wear a vest, a jersey, as well as a double jacket, but I found myself going short sleeved in the middle of winter. Can't tolerate anyone, anything, must get what I want Keep sending them in....here is another page More Clomid Comments
